November Number$$

I guess you could call me a "numbers man" as my previous three posts all had numbers in their title. November also saw me publish six blog posts - topping the record set just a month earlier in October with five.

But the number I am most excited about is the total income received in November! It is my highest total since going full-time with my voiceover career in January, 2006. I also secured my first agent in November and look forward to what he will "put on my plate."

If you love hockey and numbers like I do, get the book here.

It will be a nice fixture on the coffee table as you can just pick it up and relive some great memories.

As for me, I am going to work now on an e-learning project for one of my great clients on the east coast.

I want to beat November's totals! And I hope YOU do too:)

Feather In My Cap

Just like two posts back, I will start this blog with a little movie talk. "Ocean's Thirteen" is out on DVD today - the 13th. Like "Ocean's Eleven" and "Ocean's Twelve", the three amigos of Brad Pitt (pictured in my previous blog post), George Clooney and Matt Damon return and team up with an enemy. "Shrek the Third" is not the enemy but the King - and that one is out on DVD today as well.

I don't know if I could be a King...crowns are uncomfortable and I prefer wearing sports caps.

My son Justin snapped this one of me yesterday at one of his favorite stores: West 49. Here is the link for the New Era Cap TV commercial I voiced. It also starts off my updated Commercial Demo reel, which also includes a commercial I did with the Governor of Missouri...Bring on Schwarzenegger in California next!
We could talk about movies as well... "I'll be back" tomorrow...

BIG break! Sabres Rock!

The Buffalo Sabres have won their first 3 games! Last Friday night they won a shootout against the Montreal Canadiens and as they did that I watched it on the tube while laying down the voice track in the studio for Saturday night's game versus Ottawa...that was cool:)
Just 90-minutes ago Feature Producer Matt Gould with the Sabres emailed me to confirm I will be doing the TV intros for all of the Sabres TV games on the mighty MSG network. Without question, they are my most recognized client to date.

I have had a couple of BIG (in length) projects this week:
the podcast I plugged last time about Japanese expansion in China ended up being 16 minutes in total. I have also completed 10:30 seconds of a script for www.legalmediainc.com. They offer Houston-based Litigation Support for Attorneys Nationwide.

It is fun to switch gears with my voice! High energy for the Sabres and smooth, informative reads for the projects above. I am listed as the voice with Integrity at: www.onestopvoiceshop.com
Thanks to them this afternoon for a small elearning script. My role? Main drive-thru cashier.
I also have a commercial to tackle for my good friends at: www.ideafactory.ca
The job I am describing in the spot? A certified snubber (I kid you not!). It is Alberta’s newest certified occupation.

In The Buff?

The Buffalo Sabres have been picked by a lot of folks to win the Stanley Cup. The NHL season starts tonight and they take on the defending champions: the Carolina Hurricanes. I could still be the voice opening Sabres' TV broadcasts this year. My read for their last exhibition game was used last Saturday night and tomorrow the Feature Producer (Matt G.) I know with the team said: "I’m going to try to write a touch less copy so that you can be a bit more “movie trailer...deep throatish”...which is what I believe the boss is looking for. I think I gave you too much copy to read in too little time in the last one." So, hope Buffalo beats the Montreal Canadiens Friday night at their home opener:) That should put the boss in a good mood!

Speaking of "In The Buff", Barenaked Ladies' new album "Are Me" is out now. I had the chance to work closely with the band from 1991-'96 when I worked with Warner Music Canada. I connected with their road manager last time they were in town (December '05) and we'll try and hook up again when they are in Kelowna again in 4 months.

It is the Thanksgiving weekend here in Canada and I will be starting a large project for the Richard Ivey School of Business/The University of Western Ontario today. It is a 4-page article which should run about 15 minutes as a podcast. It is titled: Japanese expansion in China: A cautionary tale. The target audience is practicing managers.

Hoarse, Horse, Hortons & Hockey?

My voice is not HOARSE even though I have a slight cold...I've taken some Dristan pills the last 2 days and that is doing the job...Having this little cold was actually a benefit in giving me a bit of a twang for a commercial I did this afternoon for Haegles Western Wear and tack in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. They have over 1, 200 pairs of boots there! C'mon down Imelda Marcos!

TIM HORTONS coffee is my favourite. I probably stop there once a day. But today I had the privilege of breaking in a new TH coffee cup at home. Tim Horton was a HOCKEY player first and the NHL season is starting soon. I think the Vancouver Canucks are going to do better than expected this year. I could be switching my support to the Buffalo Sabres though. Two days ago I had the chance to audition for the opening of their TV broadcasts...I'll keep you posted on the outcome....hockey historians know both Vancouver and Buffalo entered the NHL in 1970. The Sabres were also the last team Tim Horton played for before dying in a car crash in early 1974.

Friday fun!

Today I did the new company voicemail for McKenzie Electric. Ross McKenzie and I used to work in radio together in the late '80's and I appreciated his call yesterday when he said he didn't want to do the message himself but thought of me to convey a professional image.

My On Hold Demo was also added today at: http://www.please-hold.net/VoiceTalent.html in Oregon. I also do on hold messaging for: http://www.onair.ca in Calgary and I love the creative intro to their website. Click on it yourself!

I am also the main voice for: http://www.greetingpros.com
Greg Krantz is my contact in Arlington, Virginia and the website will be alive and kicking for consumer consumption soon!....I need to consume some lunch now...
