Canadian Football Legends: Dirty Thirty and Happy 40th Anthony Calvillo!

This is my 30th blog post of the year so here's a photo of me around 1974 getting an autograph from Dirty Thirtyfuture Hall of Famer, Jim Young, of the BC Lions.

Happy 40th birthday to the ageless wonder in the Canadian Football League: Anthony Calvillo!
17 TD passes with only 6 interceptions through seven games so far this season for the Montreal Alouettes, who take on the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in about fifteen minutes. Back in his college days, Calvillo committed to Utah State, where the offensive coordinator was Jim Zorn. He was the quarterback of the Seattle Seahawks in the NFL between 1976 - 1984 and later coached the Washington Redskins in 2008/09.
Here is a great article with an American perspective on Calvillo and his accomplishments:

The Best Passing Quarterback Ever.

  1. You must have been all of 8 years old when this photo was snapped?!

My dad hired Jim Young in the off season to come to Arena Motors (Ford) and do some promotional work for the store...he goes to pick him up at the Kelowna Airport, he gets off the plane.. Sport jacket, Lions T-shirt, jeans, sneakers with no socks, and looked like he had been rolled in the dirt! He was a totally awesome guy, a legend in the league well before the end of his playing days! <=P
